Gyukaku is one of my favorite restaurants on the island! I haven't been to the Windward mall yet but I frequent the Waikiki and Kapiolani location. Happy hour at Gyukaku has amazing deals! It is a worldwide chain, and one of the most recent Gyukaku restaurants opened up in Vancouver, BC last month.

Pho Bistro 2 is one of my favorite pho places on the island! Also when you're not in the mood for pho, their Oxtail Soup is another excellent choice! Big generous pieces of oxtail and a delicious soup to go with it!

I can honestly say that their Teri Burger was one of the best on the island. Homemade patties with just the right amount of teri sauce made it a winner! A little on the small side, sometimes I could even eat two for lunch! Also their Ono Chicken was winners also! I will miss HK's!

Wow. I'm surprised how great that cake looks, actually! I had no idea they had such great desserts. I've been meaning to try it ever since it opened up and we keep missing our chance... I'll make a renewed effort.

This was our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Honolulu! Unfortunately, we can't find anything quite like it in Seoul.

That reminds me, I heard the owner of Pho Bistro 2 was actually looking into opening a restaurant here in Korea... can someone get a status update for us?? (If it's been here all along and we just didn't know about it, what a bittersweet feeling that would be...)

if i am not mistaken, gyukaku is a worldwide yakiniku chain but originally from japan. believe it or not the franchise in new york is even fancier!

food is delicious!

Ha! Thanks for the note about the pepper. I had to go back and look at it. That stew is such a Hawaii take out staple. I'm not sure I've seen a stew with that color/creaminess on the mainland.
Mac salad for breakfast? Whew. I might have to go all rice. :)

We've been working with the show on behalf of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and they will be here next week filming four trucks on Oahu...Camille's on Wheels, Flipt Out Eats, Opal Thai, and Soul Patrol. Stoked to have them coming out here!

I decided to try out Tanaka Saimin and ate the saimin. Wasn't too impressed. To me the dashi tasted identical to the dashi for Likelike's saimin. I'd choose Palace saimin anyday!!
